REVITALISING BRITAIN’S LONGEST-RUNNING COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER:

 

Scottie Press is, as it proudly states, Britain’s longest-running community newspaper. Redesigning something with so much heritage and significance was both an honour and a challenge. I wanted to respect its rich history while ensuring it remained relevant for future generations.

 

My approach was to reintroduce key elements from the paper’s past — small illustrations, a formal layout, and a proper newspaper masthead — while keeping in mind that this isn’t a museum piece; it’s a living, breathing publication that needs to be taken seriously and enjoyed by today’s readers. The result is a refreshed visual identity that honours the past while looking to the future.
