Anusara Yoga Teacher Training 2009
Teacher Training Curriculum
The Anusara Yoga Teacher Training is meant to bring forward some of the most important skills a teacher must have to help students bolster their self esteem and self love.
The training intends to cultivate three of the interpersonal qualities John Friend deems at the essence of a great teacher,
- Soft Heart
- Sharp Mind
- Vibrant Body
These three interpersonal qualities can be described and include many aspects of a great teacher. The Anusara Yoga Teacher Training intends to cultivate and bring forward these qualities while expanding on an individuals experience level and technical knowledge. In the end, the synergy between the interpersonal qualities, technical knowledge and experience may define quality of the instructor.
The Anusara Yoga Teacher Training goes well beyond how to write or follow a class script, sequence or outline. Learning how communicate effectively through intentention, words, touch and example and learning what is most effective to communicate are keys to being a good instructor. In many ways this training is a "communication" training on how to communicate effectively as a teacher for a student or students. Knowing a lot of yoga "stuff" or being able to do poses well might not help students if you can't share it with them effectively.
*****Much of the training will be spent in direct contact with the lead instructor or class mates. Time will be spent doing teaching exercises, evaluations, teaching, studying teaching skills, observing, learning different ways to communicate the information you are going to teach, learning different skills of communication, observation and evaluation for the purpose of instructing.
*****Students will also learn about class planning, theme planning, class sequencing, class design, how to weave intentions into the asana and sequencing of asana as well as how to teach all of this and more!
Students/Instructors should already have a strong yoga practice and a good familiarity with the essentials of Anusara Yoga. Because much of the language, terminology and the theme of the teacher training relates to Anusara Yoga, it is recomended and in some cases required that a participant have attended part, if not all of an Anusara Yoga Immersion. In some cases, the Immersion has been described as the "Content" to be taught or practiced and the Teacher Training is the "How To Teach It".
If you are not sure if you need to take part of an Immersion before the Teacher Training, please contact Adam Ballenger, Adam@KulaStudio.com
The teacher training is meant to help instructors take the knowledge they have and use it well.
The Anusara Yoga Immersion is one part of either the Kula Studio Yoga Alliance recognized certification program and is also accepted as part of the Anusara Yoga certification program.
