The Kula Studio
Kula Yoga Studio is the first Green yoga studio project in the Salt Lake City area if not in all of Utah. The main yoga room at Kula is a little over 1320 sq/ft with vaulted ceilings. The floor in the main room is made from Eucalyptus wood, one of the fastest re-growth wood floors you can use. The paint in the main room is soy based, the wood finish is a water and oil mix with no toxic chemicals, the front wall of the room has a clay finish that is a zero VOC product. The heating system is a brand new, high efficiency HVAC system, the windows are of the highest energy conservation rating and believe it or not the insulation is made from denim and contains no toxic materials. At Kula, the clea nsing, detoxifying, good environment theme began well before the walls were even built.
Kulas second studio is just about 450 sq/ft of softly lit, cozy, calm energy. The cherry birch floors, non-toxic paint and finish, clean, bright space is prime for soothing the mind and boosting the energy. The light control and climate control in this room make it prime for meditation, small groups, beginners and private sessions. We designed the space just right to maximize the student space with the energy of the studio. Many of the upcoming childrens classes will be held in this room, some of which will be simultaneous with adult classes for the parents in the large room. When you walk into this room you simply feel the calm that begins in the material of the room and transcends through t he space right into you.
Between Matt and Adam lies well over 30 years of building and yoga experience. Matts love of teaching, experience in building and dedication to the environment permeates every board and wall of the studio, while Adams years in yoga, dedication to the practice and the offering and appreciation of the Green theme help fill the space with the energy of offering. Between the two, the intent to offer up something that encourages people to learn, celebrate and dedicate back into the community is something both hope stimulates a positive change.
