S,O,A,M, Class, Kula Yoga Studio's step into more gentle and meditative class formats, the S,O,A,M (Stretch, Out, And, Meditate) class is intended to use great alignment in a lower energy fashion to help settle the body into a meditatively conducive tone. Once students are better prepared to meditate, the introduction to breathing and meditative exercises as well as the practice of such exercises are used to help bring students into deeper and more delightfully meditation session. SOAM is an hour of breathing exercises, stretches and relasation to prepare the body for meditation, and then meditation and relaxation exercises.
Power classes are typically challenging and follow levels,
may be rapid or slow moving. The Power yoga classes at Kula may have strong undertones of Anusara, Vinyasa and more. Come and enjoy all the great instruction these teachers have to offer.
Flow classes are typically challenging according to level
and involve creative movement connecting asana. The Flow or Vinyasa classes are often the classes that stop the least, have the least partnering and the least demonstration in them. Come and enjoy these very fun and creative classes.
Power/Flow, mixes traits of both classes and follows levels.
Anusara classes very in intensity according to level and
instructor. Classes may seem similar to therapeutic, rejuvenating, power,
flow. Check with the instructor if you are not sure. Classes may be technically
advanced as well as physically advanced. Anusara classes are always a mix of heart oriented yoga practice and great technical, energetic, philosophical, physical alignment. Anusara yoga is very well reputed for it's high level of instruction and ability to explain how yoga asana/postures work and how to do them. Anusara yoga is a great mixture of celebration within the body, through the body, using the mind and the spirit.
Anusara Inspired classes, are classes being presented by instructors who have been working and studying yoga in the Anusara Style and have met the requirements of Anusara Yoga to be considered a good representative and instructor of Anusara yoga while not having met certification requirements at this time. Many of the Anusara Inspired classes my be hyphenated with another term such as Beginner or Hatha to help describe a little more about the format of the class. The instructors of these classes have undergone hundreds of hours of yoga training and years of study and practice, while not being Anusara Certified Instructors they bring a gift and a great deal of knowledge to class.
Hatha classes very according to level but are typically
basic in nature.
AM Start-UP, classes are basic in nature with simple movement,
better than coffee, no jitters.
